Quick Verdict
I hated opening the package because it looks so beautiful. Six mega rolls, 3-ply, 350 sheets each, and zero tearing issues for me. This is going to be our mainstay going forward.

I Didn’t Want to Open the Box

Look how beautiful this is. That was my first reaction pulling the rolls out, and I said it on camera before I said anything about how it performs. Each roll is individually wrapped in paper, no plastic anywhere, and the box itself is a totally different product than you see when you go to the supermarket. I just love the way they took a little bit of time and energy to present it.
Packaging is not why you buy bamboo toilet paper. But it’s the first signal you get about whether the company means what it says, and this is probably the best packaging I’ve seen on a household paper product.
We Came From Bamboo Paper Towels
Six months into bamboo paper towels, I was already sold on the softness, so when I found out the same brand made toilet paper, I had to test it.
The bamboo tissue category is crowded now. Reel and Betterway are the names most people hit first searching for bamboo toilet paper unbleached. ecoHiny sits in the same lane: FSC-certified bamboo, plastic-free shipping, carbon offset. What separates them in practice is sheet count and whether the ply actually holds. More on that in a second.
For what it’s worth, Amazon has it at #4,806 in Health & Household with more than 1,000 bought in the past month. That’s not a niche eco brand nobody’s heard of anymore.
Does 3-Ply Bamboo Hold Up Like a Regular Roll?
Holds up stronger than the supermarket standard, no tearing, no shredding when wet, 3-ply structure actually delivers.
These are very strong, very sturdy. I haven’t had any issues as far as tearing or this not being durable. There’s a real worry with plant-fiber tissue that you get something thin and scratchy that shreds when it’s wet. Not what happened here. The 3-ply gives it body, and these have been extremely soft in hand.
Unwrapping one of the rolls to show the actual tissue, it’s plain white. No colors, no scent, no embossed pattern. That’s what you want when the selling point is PFAS-free, formaldehyde-free, non-toxic. Dyes and fragrance are exactly the stuff you’re trying to leave behind, so the plainness is the feature.
At 350 sheets a roll, this box of six adds up to 2,100 sheets, Charmin Ultra Soft’s mega roll tops out at around 286 sheets, so you’re getting roughly 22% more per roll before you even compare ply.
What the Six-Roll Box Buys You
Six rolls at 350 sheets is 2,100 sheets, and that’s the smallest box they make. It also comes in 12, 24, 36, and a 48-roll box if you want something like a six-month supply, have a large family, or you’re buying for work.
Heads up on timing: right now it’s sitting a little above where it’s been for the past three months. Nothing dramatic, but if you’re stocking up on a 48-roll box, that gap multiplies. Worth a look at the current price on the product page before you commit to the biggest size.
Unwrapping Every Single Roll
Every roll has its own paper sleeve, which you have to tear off before it goes on the holder. That’s the one friction point. It’s the trade-off for a plastic-free, individually wrapped product that stays clean in an RV or a boat, but it is an extra step the supermarket brick doesn’t ask of you.
The core is a 4 cm bamboo tube and it slides on and off a standard spindle without fighting you. No setup beyond that.
Bamboo Doesn’t Mean Rough
The assumption people walk in with is that eco-friendly tissue is a comfort downgrade you accept for the planet. Not the case here. After six months on bamboo paper towels and several weeks on these, I haven’t once reached for the Charmin I kept as a backup, it’s still sitting under the sink.
The other thing people get wrong: this isn’t recycled paper. It’s 100% bamboo mixed with wood pulp, a fast-growing plant fiber, which is a different thing entirely from the gray recycled stuff a lot of folks tried once in the 90s and never went back to. It’s flushable and septic safe too, so no plumbing worries.
Which Size to Start With
Start with the six-roll box. It’s the cheapest way to find out whether the softness and strength work for your household, and 2,100 sheets is enough to form a real opinion rather than a first impression.
If you’re already sold on bamboo, go straight to the 24 or the 48. The per-roll math gets better and the individual wrapping means the extras store fine in a garage or a closet without going musty.
One more note for RV and boat people: the individually wrapped rolls plus septic-safe construction make this an easy pick for a rig. You can throw three rolls in a bin without them getting beat up.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is bamboo toilet paper safe for septic tanks and RV systems?
Yes, ecoHiny lists this as flushable and septic safe, including for RV use. The bamboo fiber breaks down the same way standard tissue does. The individually wrapped rolls are a bonus for RV storage since they stay clean in a bin.
Will these rolls fit a standard toilet paper holder?
Yes. The core is a 4 cm bamboo tube, which is standard spindle size, so it goes on and comes off without sticking. If you’ve got a narrow recessed holder, measure the roll width before buying a 48-pack.
How should I store the extra rolls from a 24 or 48 pack?
Anywhere dry works, and the paper sleeve on each roll does the protecting. That’s the point of individually wrapping them. A garage shelf, a closet, or a storage bin is all fine since there’s no plastic film to trap moisture.
Is this made from recycled paper?
No. It’s 100% bamboo mixed with wood pulp, sourced from FSC-certified bamboo farms, not post-consumer recycled fiber. That’s why it’s white and soft rather than gray and stiff like older recycled rolls.
