Three Blueberries, One Vodka Cranberry
Tonight I had a notion to make a vodka and cranberry, so I thought I’d give my new set a try. This is kind of something new I always wanted to do but I’ve just now got the opportunity. The 8”Stainless Steel Muddler set showed up with the muddler, a 10-inch mixing spoon, and the jigger, and I went straight at it.
I’m not an experienced mixologist or anything like that. But I definitely think this set would help me become a better cocktail maker. I put only three or four blueberries in the glass because I didn’t want it overwhelming the drink. I just wanted a little bit more twang than I normally get out of a vodka cranberry.
It worked. Easy, pretty fast, and it turned out pretty good too.
The Head Isn’t Steel: That’s the Point
The muddling end has almost a serrated edge, but it’s rubber. That’s the part I love. Three or four blueberries flattened out without me having to lean on it, and because the teeth are rubber instead of metal teeth, I wasn’t worried about what I was doing to the inside of the glass.
The muddler itself is 7.87 inches of stainless, so you’ve got leverage without getting your knuckles in the drink. The 10-inch mixing spoon is long enough to reach the bottom of a tall glass and stir everything up before the ice goes in. The jigger is the small piece, 2.76 inches, dual-sided at 1/2 oz and 1 oz. I had my vodka measured in the jigger before anything else went in the glass, which is more than I can say for how I usually pour.
No Shaker in the Box
If I had a shaker, I’d have put the drink in a shaker. I don’t. That’s the gap in this set, and it’s worth knowing before you order: three pieces, no shaker, no strainer. For a stirred drink like a vodka cranberry it doesn’t matter. For anything with citrus, egg white, or cream you’re going to want one, and a shaker may be my next purchase.
Same goes for recipes. The tools don’t teach you anything. As I get better I’ll follow some actual recipes and do a better job with the ratios. The set gives you the measuring, not the knowledge.

What a Steel Muddler Set This Size Costs You After
No ongoing maintenance cost. Stainless resists corrosion, so you rinse and move on. Rinse the muddler right after you crush fruit, because blueberry pulp sits in the rubber grooves and dries there if you walk away from it. I ran mine under hot water as soon as the drink was poured and it came clean with a thumb.
The spoon and jigger are the easy part. Stainless resists corrosion, so these aren’t the cheap bar tools that rust in the back of a cabinet and get thrown out in a year. That’s the thing I’d compare it against: not a fancier set, but the random spoon and shot glass most of us have been using.
Where the Money Goes
You get a measured jigger, a tall spoon, and the only muddler you can’t fake with kitchen gear, all in one set. You’re buying a measuring jigger you’ll use every single pour, a spoon that reaches, and a muddler that’s the only one of the three you couldn’t fake with kitchen gear.
On price history, it’s sitting right about where it’s been for the last three months and close to the lowest it’s ever been tracked at, so there’s no obvious reason to sit and wait on this one. It’s also moving: Amazon has it at #11,701 in Kitchen & Dining against a 90-day average of #13,618, with more than 700 bought in the past month. Live pricing is on the product page.
Drinks It Won’t Help You Make
This set covers muddled drinks built straight in the glass, mojitos, berries in lemonade, herb drinks. Shaken or strained cocktails are out. Same with anything over 1 oz that you want measured exactly, since the jigger tops out at 1 oz and you’re counting pours past that. And if you’re making a frozen drink, this set has nothing to do with it.
Mint for a mojito, sugar cubes, berries, citrus wedges for a steel muddler lemonade in the summer, that’s the lane. Fruit and herb drinks you build straight in the glass.
I’d Buy It Again as a Starter Kit
After one drink, I can see this set replacing the improvised tools I’ve been using to make home cocktails. The rubber serrated head is the piece I’d point at if someone asked me what justifies buying a steel muddler over improvising with a wooden spoon handle, it crushed three blueberries flat in about four seconds without me bracing the glass or worrying about scratching it.

The missing shaker keeps it from being a complete home bar, and I’d go in expecting to add one. But for someone standing in their kitchen at eight at night with vodka, cranberry, and a handful of blueberries, this covers it completely, and it cost less than a single cocktail at a bar. Budget for a shaker next, and you’re done building a starter kit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it dishwasher safe?
The listing doesn’t say, so I hand-wash mine. Stainless generally handles a dishwasher fine, but the rubber muddler head is the part I’d keep out of high heat cycles. Hot water and a few seconds is all it needs anyway.
Will the muddler scratch a glass?
The business end is rubber, not metal teeth, so it’s far gentler than a steel-toothed muddler. I crushed blueberries directly in a glass without thinking twice about it. I’d still be careful in thin stemware.
Can I use it for non-alcoholic drinks?
Yes, and that’s probably the most underrated use. Muddled berries or mint in lemonade, iced tea, or sparkling water works exactly the same way. The jigger is just as useful for syrup as it is for liquor.
Does the jigger fit a standard shaker if I buy one later?
The jigger is a separate measuring tool at 2.76 inches, so it’s independent of whatever shaker you buy. The 10-inch mixing spoon is the one to check against a mixing glass, since it’s sized for reaching the bottom of tall vessels.
