I bought the BUNMO Magnetic Fidget Rings 3pk on a whim and can't put them down. Here's what the N50 magnets actually do and who should skip them.

The BUNMO Magnetic Fidget Rings 3pk are worth buying if you want a silent, pocketable fidget for a desk, a meeting, or a long car ride with kids. Eight N50 magnets hold the rings together while you spin them one-handed. They’re a little addictive, but that’s the point. Easy buy.

How this review was made: written from my own video review of this product. Every opinion here is my own, from using it myself.

Quick Verdict

I can’t put them down, and I’ve had them for a while now. One finger through a ring, the other two floating and held on by the magnets, and you’re spinning without looking. I’ll warn you that these are a little bit addictive, but they’re a blast.

Buy if you:

  • Need something silent to move your hands with during a meeting or while studying
  • Want to keep kids busy on a long car ride without noise
  • Give a lot of small, economical gifts and want one that works for an adult or a kid
  • Want something you can work one-handed without looking at it

I Saw Them Online and Had to Get Them

I ordered these mid-scroll without reading a single review, and within ten minutes of opening the box I’d missed two things I was supposed to do. If you want to skip the breakdown, you can see the BUNMO Magnetic Fidget Rings on Amazon, but the N50 magnet detail below is worth two minutes of your time before you buy.

The thing that got me first was the one-handed trick. You put one finger inside a ring, let the other two hang off it, and they stay stuck together through the magnets so they don’t fall down. You just control them with your fingers. There’s so many different ways you can play with these, and once you get good enough you don’t have to look at them at all. It’s almost like an unconscious movement.

That’s the difference between these and the squeeze balls and other tactile things I’ve used. Those pull your attention. These don’t.

They’re Addictive. That’s the Catch.

I’ll warn you up front that these are a little bit addictive. It’s the one real downside. A fidget toy is supposed to sit in the background while your brain does the actual work. These are fun enough that they sometimes become the work. I’d pick them up to spin while thinking and then realize I’d been playing for a while instead of thinking.

The other thing is the learning curve. The one-finger float move isn’t obvious on the first try. The rings drop a few times before your fingers figure out the rhythm. It takes a minute, and if you expect it to work instantly you’ll think you got a bad set.

What Three Rings and Eight Magnets Buy You

The 9pk splits cleanly into three separate gifts, which is how I’d buy next time, three people each get a full working set of tricks, and the per-pack cost drops compared to buying three separate 3pks.

One thing worth knowing before you buy: the price on these moves around a lot. Right now it’s sitting well above where it’s typically been over the past three months, and it’s been considerably cheaper at points. So check today’s price on Amazon rather than assuming. This isn’t a quiet listing either. Amazon has it ranked #3,255 in Toys & Games with more than 700 bought in the past month, so plenty of people are already on these.

They come in three packs or nine packs with a variety of different colors. If you’re buying for gifts the nine pack splits into three gifts, which is how I’d go next time.

Why the N50 Magnets Matter Here

Eight N50 magnets are what make the floating trick possible. N50 is a high grade of neodymium, and the pull is strong enough that when you’ve got one finger through a single ring, the other two stay locked on and hang there instead of dropping to the desk. That’s the entire mechanic of this toy. Weak magnets and the whole thing falls apart in your hand, literally.

The second thing the magnets do is control the feel. The rings snap and release smoothly instead of grabbing and sticking. You spin one around another, it separates, it comes back. That’s the loop you repeat a few hundred times without thinking about it.

Silence is the underrated part. These don’t click. A lot of desk toys announce themselves to everyone in the room, which is why they end up in a drawer. These I can run while sitting in a meeting and nobody turns around. The listing calls out quiet, discreet design and that’s accurate to how they behaved for me.

Size-wise they go in a pocket. That’s the other half of why I kept using them instead of forgetting about them. A fidget toy you leave at home isn’t a fidget toy. Materials are BPA-free and non-toxic, which matters if these are going to a kid who’ll have them in their hands all day in the back seat.

Great for a Car Ride, Wrong for a Deadline

These are great for hand-eye coordination, or just to keep the kids busy during a long car ride. That’s where I’d put them first. Teens, desk workers, anybody who needs their hands doing something while the rest of them concentrates. They work as a gift for an adult or a kid.

Who shouldn’t bother: anyone who already knows they get derailed by anything shiny. These will take your attention if you let them. And if the texture is the point for you, the soft squishy sensory stuff, this is a completely different kind of toy. It’s smooth metal and motion, not squeeze.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are magnetic fidget rings safe around a phone or laptop?

Keep them off credit cards and hotel key cards, which magnets can wipe. Modern phones and laptops use solid-state storage and aren’t at real risk, but I wouldn’t rest the rings directly on a laptop or next to a mechanical hard drive.

Can you take them through airport security?

Yes, they go in a carry-on without an issue. They’re small, non-electronic, and pocket-sized. For a flight with kids that’s arguably the best place for them, since they make no noise for the passengers around you.

How do you clean them?

Wipe them with a dry or slightly damp cloth and let them dry fully. Don’t soak them. The BPA-free, non-toxic materials handle a wipe-down fine, which is what you want when a kid has had them all afternoon.

Should I get the 3pk or the 9pk?

Get the 3pk if it’s for one person, the 9pk if you’re splitting it into gifts. Three rings is the full trick set for one pair of hands. Nine just means three people get a set, not that one person gets more tricks.

Half a star off for the learning curve, since the one-finger float drops a few times before your hands get it. Anyone who needs a soft squeeze texture is buying the wrong toy here. A printed card with two or three of the tricks in the pack would close the gap and make it a five.
