Nulaxy Dual Folding Cell Phone Stand Review

I bought two Nulaxy dual folding cell phone stands, one for work and one by my bed. Here's why the aluminum build and charge-through holes won me over.

Quick Verdict

I bought two of these before I ever hit record, one for my desk at work and one on my nightstand. The aluminum build doesn’t wobble, and the charge-through holes mean I never fight a cable. It’s simple, and it just works.

Buy if you:

  • Want one stand for your iPhone, Samsung and Nintendo Switch
  • Keep a phone by the bed for the clock and weather
  • Charge while your phone sits on the stand
  • Hate wobbly holders that tip during video calls

I Liked It Enough to Buy a Second One

Macro detail of the Nulaxy phone stand's folding hinge and adjustment joint in sharp focus

I bought this Nulaxy stand twice before I ever thought to review it. After a week at my desk I ordered a second one for my nightstand rather than ferry the first one back and forth, which is a faster endorsement than anything I could type. You can check the current price on Amazon here if you want to jump ahead.

This is a small aluminum folding stand. That’s it. No app, no battery, no wireless pad. And after living with two of them, simple is exactly the point.

What the Hinges and Holes Do

Two hinges fold it flat to a full upright, landscape or portrait, with zero flex when loaded. I fold it out flat, drop my phone in, then tilt the face down so I can see the screen straight on, or push it all the way up for a steeper viewing angle. Landscape or portrait, either works. The construction feels like aluminum or steel, sturdy, no flex when a phone’s loaded in it 0:20.

The detail I use most is the cutout in the back. There are holes in the stand itself, so if you need to plug your phone in to charge, the cable runs right behind there while the phone sits on it. No wrestling the connector around the frame. It handles anything from 4 to 8 inches, which covers an iPhone Pro Max, a Samsung Galaxy, and a Nintendo Switch.

Sturdy Is the Word That Kept Coming Up

The aluminum frame doesn’t flex or rock when I set my phone in, something the plastic stands I’d been through couldn’t manage past the first week. At work it holds my phone at eye level through back-to-back calls without me resetting the angle once. That’s a low bar, but cheaper stands kept failing it.

The base has a couple of rubber pegs on the bottom. That’s what sits on your furniture, your table, a chair, whatever, and it means the metal never touches the surface. My nightstand is wood and I wasn’t about to scratch it, so that mattered to me. This dual folding cell phone stand handles both spots without me thinking about it.

The 19mm Hook Is the Catch

The hook only clears a 19mm case, and that’s the one thing to check before you order. If you run a thick battery case or a rugged armored case, measure it first. The listing puts the limit at 0.74 inches, and anything past that won’t seat right. My phones with normal cases dropped in fine, so for most people this is a non-issue, but it’s the kind of detail the box doesn’t shout about.

The other thing is stability with bigger devices. A 4 to 6 inch phone is happy in portrait or landscape, but the tips say a 6 to 8 inch device sits more securely in landscape. On a big phone standing tall, I’d keep it landscape when it matters.

Who This Is Actually For

My nightstand use case is dead simple: phone in landscape at 11 p.m. showing the time, alarm, and weather without me touching it. The stand holds that angle all night without creeping. At my desk it does the same thing during calls, phone upright and readable while my hands stay on the keyboard.

Gamers get the bonus here since it holds a Nintendo Switch, and anyone bouncing between an iPhone and a Samsung doesn’t need two stands. Because it folds completely flat, it’s an easy toss in a bag for travel too. One stand, every device.

My Advice Before You Buy

Measure your case thickness against that 19mm hook and you’re set. Route your charging cable through the back cutout before you set the phone in, not after, it’s easier that way. And if you like it in one spot, grab a second, because the reason I own two is I didn’t want to move one back and forth between work and home.

Pros

  • Aluminum build feels sturdy with zero wobble when loaded
  • Charge-through holes let the cable run behind the phone
  • Adjusts flat to upright, landscape or portrait
  • Rubber pegs on the base won’t scratch furniture
  • Folds flat and works with iPhone, Samsung and Switch

Cons

  • 19mm hook won’t clear thick or rugged cases
  • Big 6, 8″ phones are steadier in landscape than portrait
  • No wireless charging built in, cable only

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it fit a Nintendo Switch?

Yes, it holds a Nintendo Switch along with phones and e-readers in the 4 to 8 inch range. Keep the Switch in landscape for the best stability since it’s on the wider side.

Can I leave my phone case on?

Yes, as long as your device with the case is under 19mm (0.74″) thick. Standard slim and mid cases clear it easily. Thick battery or rugged cases are where you’ll run into trouble.

Can I charge my phone while it’s on the stand?

Yes, there are holes in the back of the stand so your charging cable runs right behind the phone. It’s a wired pass-through, not a wireless pad, so bring your own cable.

Does it need an app or account to work?

No. It’s a passive aluminum stand with no electronics, so there’s no app, no pairing, and no subscription. You unfold it and set your phone in, that’s the entire setup.

Will it scratch my desk or nightstand?

No, the base has rubber pegs that keep the metal off your surface. Mine sits on a wood nightstand and hasn’t left a mark. The rubber pads also stop the phone from sliding.

Does it work in portrait and landscape?

Both. Smaller phones (4, 6″) sit fine either way. For larger devices (6, 8″), landscape gives you more stability, so use that when you’re propping up a big phone.

Is it good for travel?

Yes, it folds completely flat, so it slides into a bag without taking up much room. The aluminum handles being knocked around better than a plastic stand would.

Can it hold a tablet or Kindle?

It works with e-readers and smaller tablets up to 8 inches. A full-size iPad is likely too wide and heavy for a stable hold, so this is best thought of as a phone and small-device stand.

4.4/5
Final Rating
Loses a bit for the 19mm case limit and the landscape-only steadiness on big phones. Skip it if you run a rugged case or want wireless charging built in. A wider hook and a slightly deeper cradle would push this to a five, but I bought two, so that’s where I land.
