Nutricel Supplements Methylene Blue Capsules are worth buying if you want a pre-measured 12 mg USP grade dose with no blue mouth and no liquid dropper mess. Sixty capsules, a 60-day supply. After six months I felt more sustained focus, though diet and exercise changed at the same time.

Quick Verdict

Six months of daily capsules and what I’d describe is more mental clarity, more focus, more attention, kind of sustained through the day. The Lunakai stands out for the added B6, B12, vitamin C and alpha lipoic acid. Both are 60 capsules, 60-day supply. The choice is whether you want the narrow formula (Nutricel) or the stacked formula with B vitamins and alpha lipoic acid (Lunakai).

Buy if you:

  • work long project and planning sessions and want steadier attention
  • want a pre-measured 12 mg dose instead of counting dropper drops
  • hate the blue mouth and stained countertops liquid methylene blue leaves
  • already have diet and exercise dialed in and want to add to it

Six Months In, Not Two

I made a video on this two or three months ago and this is the follow-up. That matters, because a lot of supplement content is somebody’s week-one impression. Six months ago I started running the Nutricel capsules alongside Lunakai Pro, pulling one from the bottle each morning during long project work.

The clearest signal was during long planning sessions, the kind that usually go sideways around the 90-minute mark when I start tabbing away from the doc. Through month six, that drift came later, or didn’t come at all. Not a jolt, not a caffeine-style ramp, just attention that stayed where I pointed it.

Here’s the part I won’t dress up. Over those same six months I increased my focus on diet and exercise and started eating a little bit healthier. Some of this could be attributed to that. I’ve always said diet, exercise, and supplementation go hand in hand, and I kind of feel that works, but it does mean I can’t hand you a clean before-and-after on the capsule alone.

What 60 Capsules Actually Costs You in Time

Sixty capsules, one a day, 60-day supply, which means you reorder six times a year instead of twelve. Most focus supplements quietly train you to auto-ship every 30 days; a two-month bottle breaks that reflex and costs you nothing in consistency.

The capsule format is doing more work than people give it credit for. Liquid methylene blue stains your mouth, your teeth, your clothes and the counter you set the dropper on. The pre-measured capsule sidesteps all of it and gives you the same 12 mg every single morning without you eyeballing drops. Running two bottles side by side for a comparison, that consistency is the only reason the comparison means anything.

12 mg USP Grade, and What Rides Along With It

Each capsule is 12 mg of USP grade methylene blue. USP grade is the specification to look for here, and Nutricel backs it with third-party testing through Eurofins on both the methylene blue and the supporting ingredients.

The supporting ingredients are short. Vitamin C ester for absorption and organic cacao powder as the food-based excipient. No artificial dyes, no maltodextrin, no cellulose, no rice bran, and the shell is vegetarian rather than gelatin. Manufactured in the US in an NSF-certified, GMP-compliant facility.

Now the Lunakai brand stands out for me because it includes vitamin B6, B12, vitamin C and also alpha lipoic acid. That’s the real split between these two. Nutricel is the narrow one: methylene blue plus an absorption helper, nothing else in the way. Lunakai is the stack. If you’re already taking a B-complex, the narrower formula keeps you from doubling up on things you don’t need. If you’re not, Lunakai bundles more into one capsule. Check today’s price on Amazon and compare the labels yourself, because that’s really the decision.

Does a Daily Dose Hold Up Past Month Three?

The effect held through month six, no fade, no habit-based takeout feeling. That was the thing I was watching for across six months, because plenty of focus supplements feel great for three weeks and then become something you take out of habit. The sustained attention held.

Shelf-wise, a 60-day bottle means the second half of it sits in your cabinet for two months. The vegetarian capsules I’ve been pulling from the bottle at week 26 look and swallow the same as the ones at week one. No clumping, no powder leaking into the bottle.

One thing worth knowing before you commit to a two-month bottle: Amazon currently has this sitting around #9,368 in Health & Household, which is softer than its 90-day average of #8,434. More than 3,000 bought in the past month, so it’s not a niche item, but it’s drifting rather than climbing. The price today is also running a little above where it’s been over the past three months. Nothing alarming, just worth a glance at the live page before you order.

Who Should Leave This One Alone

Anyone on SSRIs or other serotonergic medication should talk to a doctor first, full stop. Methylene blue isn’t a neutral add-on and that’s not a conversation to skip.

If your diet and exercise are already in decent shape and you want a clean 12 mg capsule you don’t have to think about, this is a low-friction add. If you’re hoping it compensates for everything else, that’s not what six months showed me, and I changed too many variables at once to pretend otherwise. The capsule earned its place in my stack; it did not replace the stack.

Pros

  • Sustained focus and mental clarity through the workday, still there at month six
  • Pre-measured 12 mg USP grade capsules, no blue mouth and no dropper mess
  • 60 capsules is a full 60-day supply, so you reorder six times a year
  • Short ingredient list: vitamin C ester and organic cacao, no dyes or maltodextrin
  • Third-party tested by Eurofins, made in an NSF-certified GMP facility

Cons

  • I changed my diet and exercise over the same six months, so I can’t isolate what the capsule did on its own
  • No B6, B12 or alpha lipoic acid here; Lunakai Pro bundles those and Nutricel doesn’t
  • Currently running a bit above its three-month typical price

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it turn my urine blue?

Blue or blue-green urine is a known and harmless effect of methylene blue at supplement doses. The capsule format avoids staining your mouth and teeth, but it doesn’t change what happens downstream. Not a defect, just something to expect.

Can I take it with coffee or other supplements?

Coffee has been fine for me. For other supplements, the one to check is anything serotonergic, including some mood and herbal products like St. John’s wort. I check interactions before adding anything to my stack and I’d do the same here.

Does it need refrigeration or special storage?

No. A closed cabinet away from heat is fine, same as any capsule supplement. My second month of capsules sat in the bottle for eight weeks and came out identical to the first.

Is the capsule vegetarian?

Yes, plant-based and gelatin-free. There’s also no maltodextrin, cellulose or rice bran in the formula, which is more than a lot of capsules in this aisle can say.

It loses a few tenths because I changed my diet and exercise over the same six months and can’t hand you a clean attribution. Anyone wanting B6, B12 and alpha lipoic acid in the same capsule should look at the Lunakai instead. Add those to this formula and keep the Eurofins testing and it’s a five.
