Quick Verdict
20 total carbs, 7g fiber, 10g sugar alcohol, 3 net carbs, and caramel that stretches and pools when you pull the bar apart. It’s one of the best bars I’ve had so far. When I’m craving something sweet, this is my go-to.
Buy if you:
- Follow a low-carb or keto diet and still want candy
- Want peanuts distributed through the whole bar, not just on top
- Need a 1.55 oz individually wrapped bar for a gym bag or desk drawer
- Already gravitate toward Atkins sweet products
Skip if you:
- React badly to sugar alcohols, because 10g per bar is a lot in one sitting
- Have a peanut allergy
- Want something you can eat daily, since I can’t eat these all the time

The Caramel Stretched. That’s the Test.
I broke the bar in half on camera and the caramel just oozed out between the halves. That’s the whole thing for me. The Atkins Caramel Chocolate Nut Roll Snack Bar is kind of one of my favorite guilty pleasure snacks, and when you pull one apart and the caramel stretches and pools, that’s when you know you have enough caramel in there. Plenty of low-carb bars skimp. This one doesn’t.
Nuts everywhere, too. Top, bottom, right through the middle. This particular bar from Atkins has more peanuts distributed throughout than any other one I’ve tried, and that matters more than it sounds. The nuts are what keep it from tasting like a protein brick.
Caramel Chocolate at 3 Net Carbs: How the Math Works
Three net carbs. That’s it. The label reads 20 total carbs, then subtracts 7 grams of fiber and 10 grams of sugar alcohol, and you’re left with 3 net carbohydrates. There’s 7g of protein and 2g of sugar in a 1.55 oz bar.
So when I talk about macros, this is the part that decides whether a sweet thing makes it into my rotation or not. I follow a low carbohydrate diet and I most often gravitate toward the low-carb Atkins brand sweet products because they’re simply the best. They’re the best I’ve tasted, the best I’ve had, and they meet my macros as well, too. A caramel chocolate bar that fits inside a keto day without any mental gymnastics is rare.
I’ll say the obvious thing about that 10g of sugar alcohol, though. That’s a real number, and sugar alcohols don’t sit the same with everybody. One bar is a treat. Three in an afternoon is a different experiment, and not one I’d run.
Taste-wise, I think I’m a little biased here. I think it has the perfect blend or amount of sweet caramel chocolate. It just tastes great. No chalky aftertaste, which is where most low-carb caramel chocolate candy falls apart.
Where It Doesn’t Belong
This isn’t a meal and I’d never treat it like one. 7g of protein in a 1.55 oz bar is a snack, not lunch. I don’t eat them all the time. I can’t eat these all the time. But when I do need something sweet, this is my go-to, and I think that distinction is the whole reason it works for me.
Peanut allergy households, obviously out. And if you’re the kind of person who can’t keep a box of anything in the pantry without finishing it in two days, a 16-count carton of caramel chocolate nut roll bars is a trap.
Buying the Right Size (and Watching the Price)
Go bigger than the five pack. I started out buying the five pack and kept running out, so now if I can find the larger pack I always go for it because I want to make sure I have these at all times. The 16-count carton solves that.
Storage is nothing. Each bar is individually wrapped, so it lives in a gym bag, a glove box, or a desk drawer without any help. Just don’t leave one in a hot car unless you want the caramel chocolate coating to redistribute itself.
One thing worth knowing before you click: the price on these moves around a lot. Right now it’s sitting a little above where it’s been averaging the past three months, and it’s been considerably cheaper at points in the past. So check the live price rather than assuming. It’s also selling well lately, ranked around #2,233 in Health & Household against a 90-day average near #3,253, with over 9,000 bought in the past month. Popular enough that stock and pricing both shift.
Who This Bar Is Actually Built For
Low-carb dieters who are bored of their snack options and want a bar that tastes like real candy, not cardboard. That’s the buyer. If you’re keto or low-carb and you’ve been trying bars that either blow your carb count or taste like sweetened cardboard, this is one of the brands that just fits well within my low-carbohydrate diet and tastes like a real caramel chocolate nut roll.
Not for you if you’re not counting carbs at all. If sugar isn’t a concern, a regular candy bar will cost less and you won’t be eating 10g of sugar alcohol to get there. The whole value of this bar is the constraint it solves.

I keep these around as a special treat, not a staple. If that’s how you’d use it too, it’s an easy one to try for yourself.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this gluten free?
Atkins doesn’t label this one as gluten free on the listing I bought from, so don’t assume it. If you’re celiac, read the actual wrapper on the carton you receive, since formulations and facility statements change by production run.
How should I store the bars and how long do they keep?
Room temperature in a cool spot, sealed in the individual wrapper until you eat it. Check the best-by date printed on the carton, since that’s the only date that matters. Heat is the real enemy with a chocolate-coated bar, not time.
Can I eat one of these before a workout?
Yes, 7g of protein and 1.55 oz makes it a reasonable pre-gym bite. I’d eat it well before rather than right before, mainly because of the sugar alcohol content. It’s not an energy gel and it won’t behave like one.
Is it vegan or dairy free?
No. Atkins bars in this line use milk-based protein, so this isn’t a vegan or dairy-free option. If you need plant-based, you’re shopping a different category entirely.
