The Scalp Serum is worth buying if you have thin hair and want a leave-in you can spray after washing without your roots going oily. It’s a 3.38 fluid ounce Korean-made spray with niacinamide, a B5 complex, and six or seven bark and seaweed extracts. Buy.

How this review was made: written from my own video review of this product. Every opinion here is my own, from using it myself.

Quick Verdict

I rubbed it between my fingers before it went anywhere near my head, and it was thin and moldable with no tack at all. Sprayed on the scalp it feels cool, smells fresh, and doesn’t go goopy or clumpy. For thin hair that’s the whole argument.

Buy if you:

  • Have thin hair and avoid anything that reads oily at the roots
  • Want to apply right after washing, then blow dry as normal
  • Want a leave-in you can keep on your scalp overnight
  • Care that a scalp product is dermatologically tested

It Felt Cool, Not Wet

The first thing I registered was cool, not damp, no heaviness, just a clean spray that landed where I aimed it. That’s the test I care about with any serum hair growth spray. If it lands heavy, I’m washing it out in an hour.

Before that I put some on my fingers just to look at it. Thin, moldable, no tack, no grease. You could see it was going to absorb rather than sit there. And it smells good, fresh rather than perfumed, which matters when it’s staying on your head all night.

Where It Sits in a Crowded Korean Shelf

Korean scalp sprays split into two camps: oils built to coat the strand and tonics built for the scalp skin itself. This one is firmly in the second camp, which is why it can share shelf space with your regular leave-in without competing with it.

What separates them is weight. Most serum hair oil formulas are built to coat the hair. This one is built for the scalp and the scalp only, which is why it can go on before a blow dry without turning roots flat.

One useful signal: Amazon has it ranked around #33,589 in Beauty & Personal Care and reports more than 400 bought in the past month. Not a viral product, just steadily moving. It’s also sitting a little under its usual price of the last three months, so check the current price before you assume otherwise.

Six or Seven Bark Extracts, Stacked

Niacinamide and B5 scalp complex anchor the formula; the botanical backbone is six or seven bark extracts stacked together. That’s the front of the formula. Behind it is the part that struck me when I read the box carefully: a botanical blend with herbal and seaweed components, plus a run of bark extracts. I counted about six or seven of them. I’m not going to read through them all, but stacking that many bark extracts alongside seaweed actives is unusual for a spray format, most comparable serums stop at two or three botanicals.

It feels like old medicine becoming new all over again. That’s kind of what struck me. The seaweed side is Chlorella, Coptis Japonica, and Laminaria, and the whole thing is vegan.

Now, the one ingredient people flag. There’s alcohol on the list, and I know that’s a sticking point for some. From what’s in this formula it reads as very slight, and it’s part of why the serum isn’t oily on the scalp. Thin hair doesn’t forgive oil. I’d rather have a trace of alcohol and a spray that disappears than a richer formula that leaves my roots looking wet at noon. If you avoid alcohol on principle, that’s a fair reason to pass.

The other thing on the box I wanted confirmed was dermatologically tested. Anything I’m leaving on skin overnight, I want that line present. It’s there.

It’s a Scalp Product, Not a Hair Product

This is a scalp product, not a hair product, it targets skin health, not strand shine or texture. It won’t. This goes under the hair, onto skin, and the hair benefit is downstream of the scalp environment being healthier.

Which is also why the texture test matters more than the shine test. I’m choosing this specifically because it can stay in your hair or stay on your scalp overnight. Something I could put on right after washing, blow dry, and move on with the day. Not goopy, not clumpy, not making my hair look oily.

What Ownership Looks Like After the First Bottle

3.38 fluid ounces is a small bottle, and that’s the limit here. It’s pretty lightweight for handling, which I like, but a scalp serum used daily is a consumable. Plan on replacing it rather than expecting one to carry you through a season.

There’s a second application method worth knowing. I like spraying it directly on the scalp so I can see where it’s landing, but I think it’d be just as effective to spray onto your fingers and work it in from there. Useful if you part your hair in a specific spot and want control instead of mist.

Thin Hair People, Mostly

If you have thin hair and an itchy or flaky scalp, this is the profile it’s built for. Men and women both, day or night. The non-greasy leave-in format is the whole reason to pick it over an oil.

If you’ve got thick, dry hair that likes a heavy treatment, you’ll find this too light and probably want a different product. And if you’re expecting a single bottle to reverse years of shedding, no. What it does is get the scalp into better shape, which is where everything else starts. If that’s your situation, the small bottle size actually works in your favor, it’s a low-cost, low-commitment way to find out whether a cleaner scalp environment makes a visible difference before you commit to a longer routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use it on colored or chemically treated hair?

It’s applied to the scalp rather than the lengths, so it isn’t sitting on your color. The formula is dermatologically tested and made for sensitive scalps. If you’ve just had a chemical service, give your scalp a couple of days before adding anything new.

Should I patch test first?

Yes, and it’s easy with this one. I put it on my fingers and skin before it went near my scalp, which is effectively a patch test. Give it a day on your inner arm if your scalp reacts to things, especially since there’s alcohol in the formula.

Does it work with a hair dryer or styling tools?

Yes, it’s meant to go on before blow-drying or styling. That’s the intended routine slot. It won’t build up or weigh the hair down, so you’re not fighting it with a round brush afterward.

Does it need refrigeration or special storage?

No, a normal bathroom shelf is fine. The bottle is small and lightweight enough to travel with, though a spray that size will want to go in your liquids bag for a carry-on. Keep it out of direct sun like any botanical formula.

The texture carries the score: thin, cool on contact, zero tack, and comfortable enough to sleep in. It loses ground on results because 3.38 fl oz is a short runway for judging regrowth, and on the alcohol if you avoid it. A larger bottle and an alcohol-free version would close the gap.
