I've been using these extra-large disposable face towels with micellar water. Here's where they beat cotton pads and where they don't.

I held one up next to an 8 1/2 by 11 piece of notebook paper and it’s larger. That’s the whole reason these disposable face towels work for me. At 10 x 12 inches I’m not rationing sheets. It’s ultra soft, it’s sterile out of the box, and it doesn’t irritate my skin.

One towel, folded diagonally, does both eyes and still leaves a clean surface for my forehead and chin. That’s three or four cotton pads replaced by one sheet, and 60 of them in a box. At 60 sheets for under $10, you’re replacing 3, 4 cotton pads per use, so the math works.

Cotton pads versus these: which wins?
These win, and the reason is lint. A cotton pad leaves fibers on your lashes and caught in the corners of your nose, you can feel them the next morning. With micellar water on one of these, nothing transfers but pigment.
Packing is the other one. A cotton pad bag is puffy. This is flat. It doesn’t have to travel in your makeup case, though it could, and the flatter profile is why it ends up in my travel bag instead. And 60 of these last a long while compared to burning three or four cotton rounds per face.

The Part That Annoys Me
They’re dry sheets, not pre-soaked wipes. So there’s a step: you’re wetting it yourself every single time, and if you only saturate one side it drags on the second pass. What I do is fold it double thick first, then get my micellar water on there so both sides are wet. That fixes it, but it’s not obvious from the packaging and I figured it out by fumbling the first one.
The other thing is the math. A 60 count box is a recurring purchase. If you’re strictly a wash-the-cloth person, this is a different spending habit.
My Folding Routine, Step by Step
Fold it on the diagonal and one towel covers the whole face. The material is pretty stretchy, so it takes the fold and holds it instead of bunching up. I use one diagonal corner on the first eye, the other diagonal on the second eye, and then I’ve still got a larger unused surface area left for my forehead and my chin. That makes sense for me because the eyes are where the makeup is heaviest and I don’t want to drag that around the rest of my face.
You can use any kind of makeup remover with them. I tend to use the micellar water. The dual texture means the softer face handles the eye area and the slightly grippier side does a light exfoliating pass on the chin without me reaching for a second product.

If your reusable cloth is sitting damp on a hook between uses, fermenting whatever you wiped off your face last night, this is the clean swap. Same answer if you travel and need something flat and sterile without adding a liquid to your bag. If you travel and you want something flat and sterile, same answer. If you rarely wear makeup and one cotton pad covers your whole routine, you don’t need a 10 x 12 towel.
