Grandkids in the House Changed the Math
What these knob safety covers do is make it a little bit harder. They deter or disable the kids from being able to turn the stove on. That’s it. That’s the job. And after installing all five and trying to defeat them myself, that’s exactly what they do.
Five Knobs, Under Five Minutes, No Tools

The Dual Locking Button Is the Whole Product
The lock works. Once I had the covers in place, there’s a dual locking button with the flip top, and with it closed I can turn the knob left and right and it doesn’t turn the burner at all. Not a little. Not at all.
Now if I want to flip that dual locking mechanism in place, I can actually go back in. I can turn the stove on and off like normal. Flip it back, and it’s locked again. Two-button presses for an adult, meaningful resistance for a toddler.
I want to be straight about what this is though. It makes it difficult for the kids to do. It isn’t a keyed lock. An older, determined kid who watches you do it twice will figure it out. For the grandkid age range that’s the actual risk in my house, difficult is the right bar.
