The Gas Station Bathroom Problem I Keep Running Into

I really don’t want to touch the toilet, but I need to use the toilet. That’s the whole reason I keep a pack of the Relyo Toilet Seat Cover Disposable Flushable liners on me when I’m traveling. Sometimes a public bathroom has one of those wall-mounted cover dispensers built in. A lot of times it doesn’t. Truck stops, gas stations, the random rest area halfway through a road trip, you never know what you’re walking into. Having this toilet seat cover in my pocket means I’m not stuck deciding whether to hover or just deal with it.

People Assume Paper Liners Mean Flimsy

My first instinct was to test it before I trusted it with my full weight, I stretched the unfolded liner between both hands expecting it to split like a coffee filter. It didn’t. The paper has enough body to drape over the seat and hold its position without bunching, which is not something I assumed a disposable liner at this price point could pull off. Instead it held its shape while I draped it over the seat, covered the whole face without bunching, and didn’t rip when I adjusted it to make sure I had everything covered. For the guys, the flap just lays right there in the front, into the water, and you’re not scrambling to fix anything mid-use.

What 50 Liners Actually Buys You

You get 5 packs of 10 in this box, and each individual packet is small enough to toss in a pocket or a purse. That’s the whole pitch for me. It’s not about replacing toilet paper or doing anything fancy, it’s a cheap insurance policy against a toilet seat you don’t want contact with. Amazon has this ranked #359 in Paper & Plastic right now, and reports more than 9,000 bought in the past month, so a lot of people are clearly stocking up the same way I did. It has slipped some in sales rank over the past few months, sitting at #359 against a 90 day average closer to #244, but the price itself has stayed about where it’s been the whole time, so that dip doesn’t read to me like anything’s wrong with the product itself.

Unfolding One and Draping It Over the Seat

The only fiddly moment is the first unfold: you peel apart the center flap, let it drop toward the water, and the liner settles across the full seat face on its own, no repositioning needed. I did it one-handed in a truck stop stall without touching anything else, which is the entire point. It’s an extra large size, so it covers the entire toilet seat face, not just the middle. I pulled it up a little in the front to make sure everything was draped right, sat down, finished up, and flushed it like normal toilet paper. Voila, there it goes. No wrapping it up, no finding a trash can, no touching anything in between.

Which Size and Pack to Grab Before You Travel

Grab the 50-count pack if you travel regularly, since each of the 5 smaller packets is easy to split between a car glovebox, a purse, and a diaper bag. The oval shape is built to adapt to round standard seats and elongated ones, so I didn’t run into a fit issue anywhere I used it. Because each liner is individually wrapped, you do burn through the packet faster than a bulkier seat cover case would last, so if you’re a frequent flyer or do a lot of long road trips, it’s worth throwing more than one packet in your bag before you leave the house.

Pros

  • Covers the entire toilet seat face, extra large size
  • Flushable, no trash or disposal step needed
  • Sturdier than expected for a paper liner
  • Individually wrapped packets fit in a pocket or purse
  • Fits oval, round, and elongated seats without sliding

Cons

  • Individually wrapped packets mean you go through them faster than a bulkier case
  • Thin paper feel takes a second to trust before you sit

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these work on airplane toilet seats?

Yes, the oval shape and 17×15 inch unfolded size are built to adapt to the smaller, often oddly shaped seats you get on a plane. I’d keep a packet in a carry-on rather than checked luggage since you want it accessible mid-flight.

Will flushing one clog a septic system?

No, they’re made of biodegradable paper that’s labeled septic-safe and free of plastic or synthetic layers. That’s different from a lot of seat cover brands that still require you to toss them in the trash.

How long does one pack actually last on a trip?

With 10 liners per individual packet and 5 packets in the full 50-count box, one packet alone covers a long weekend of rest stops for most people. For a multi-week road trip or a family of four, I’d pack more than one of the 5 included packets.

Can these replace a reusable toilet seat cover case?

For road trips and flights, yes, you flush and walk away, no used case rattling around in your bag. If you’re hitting public restrooms five days a week for work, the per-liner cost will add up faster than a reusable case would; but for anyone traveling a few times a month, the convenience math tilts heavily toward disposable.

Loses a bit on value since each packet burns through fast if you travel a lot, but the sturdiness and full-seat coverage are better than I expected from paper. Frequent travelers should just pack two boxes instead of one.
